Assistance with Preparing Research Funding Applications

The Office for Research (Law) provides individual assistance to staff and Graduate Research students applying for research funding schemes and can help with the following:
-
identifying relevant schemes and assisting with the administrative and technical requirements;

providing copies of successful grant applications from major funding schemes;
-
obtaining quotes for budget items (such as airfares, accommodation and per diem rates and equipment costs); and
-
inputting of information into the Grants Application Management System (GAMS) for ARC grant applications.

Melbourne Law School Grants Mentor Scheme

Melbourne Law School Grants Mentors support academic staff intending to apply for Australian Research Council (ARC) and other grant schemes, by acting as a mentor and a source of advice through the application process. The intention is that the Grants Mentors will supplement the assistance already available from the Office for Research (Law) and the Melbourne Research Office. The Grants Mentors are also happy to read and provide feedback on draft grant applications.

The Law Research Service offers support to Melbourne Law School academic staff and academic visitors by undertaking discrete research tasks and facilitating timely access to relevant information for the purposes of research and knowledge transfer. By freeing staff time to think and write, the Law Research Service contributes to the quality, quantity and impact of the Melbourne Law School’s faculty publications.
The service is based in the Law Library and makes use of the University’s significant print and online library collection. Research requests are completed by law student research assistants, under the supervision of the Law Research Service Manager. The Law Research Service welcomes research tasks of up to 20 hours on all topics, including domestic, foreign, interdisciplinary and comparative law research. For more substantial research tasks, the Law Research Service can provide training and guidance to academic staff and their personal research assistants.
