The Melbourne Law School's graduate research student numbers range from approximately 80 to 100.

The Melbourne Law School has an outstanding international reputation in the area of legal research. Our aim is to encourage research collaboration, attract international visitors and postgraduate research students from Australia and many international countries by developing specialist graduate and continuing education programs and strengthen our links with the legal profession and international institutions.

The research expertise of the Melbourne Law School is extremely diverse in both focus and approach. There are a number of Research Centres and Institutes, providing a focus for particular research interests. Graduate research students are encouraged to participate in the Centres’ and Institutes' teaching and research programs, and to use these Centres and Institutes as resources to pursue their own particular research interests.
